As you traverse the startingly turquoise waters around this breathtaking locale, you’ll have the freedom to swim, sun and sightsee as you please, and aperitifs and refreshments abound. Your captain will gladly share local lore as you take in the unforgettable scenery. Stretch out on the deck to spot limestone cliffs and magical marine caves as you glide by. Admire the famous Lama Monachile beach, a sheltered white-pebble cove hugged by rockfaces. Dive beneath the gentle waves and relax in the sun-warmed Adriatic Sea, surrounded by coastal Italy's endless charms.

Byzantine-Era Bari Vecchia
ITBRI001Get up close and personal with one of Southern Italy's most charming cities during this guided walk through Bari’s historic heart. Starting out alongside the ancient stone walls of the Norman-Swabian castle, you’ll venture into narrow streets with an expert guide, learning about this formerly powerful port city's history and many charms as you map a route that immerses you in 'Bari Vecchia’—old Bari. Take in the 13th-century majesty of the Cattedrale di San Sabino, also known as Bari Cathedral. Step inside the Basilica Pontificia San Nicola, a pilgrimage site for both Roman Catholics and Orthodox Christians. Stroll through sun-soaked stone piazzas, browse unique local boutiques, savour the aromas of cosy cafés, and witness locals preparing homemade orecchiette—one of the city's signature dishes—in the time-honoured Puglian style.

Ethereal Caves and Reverent Churches
ITBRI007Experience natural and man-made Puglian beauty in an adventure of two equally enchanting halves. Your day will begin with an exploration of the Grotte di Castellana, a vast system of Karst caves. In this otherworldly place, you will weave between sparkling stalactites and stalagmites as you journey through ethereal rocky chambers. After resurfacing, you’ll return to Bari and enter Bari Vecchia—the old town—to visit the Basilica Pontificia San Nicola. Constructed between 1087 and 1197, this Romanesque church continues to serve as a popular site for religious pilgrimage today.

Magical Alberobello and Scenic Polignano a Mare
ITBRI009This experience combines two beloved aspects of Italy's rich offerings: fascinating history and coastal beauty. Your day begins with a visit to UNESCO-recognised Alberobello. This postcard-status village is known for its trulli
(singular trullo
)—distinct, cone-shaped stone huts that were constructed without mortar in the 16th century. A local guide leads you, on foot, to the heart of the village, pointing out distinctive features and symbolic decorations of these structures along the way. Take time to snap a few photos of the fairytale scene before you as you explore. Then, having worked up an appetite for mouthwatering Puglian cuisine, settle in for lunch at Ristorante L'Aratro. After savouring local cuisine, you’ll head for the coast, stopping in Polignano a Mare for your second guide-led exploration of the day. From narrow stone streets and colourful piazzas to panoramic sea views, immerse yourself in this precious waterside Puglian town.

Majestic Matera and the Ancient ‘Sassi’
ITBRI004Matera is a breathtaking mountaintop marvel that possesses a sense of majesty and a unique visual language. During this fascinating experience with a local guide, you will take it all in as you wander past homes and shops carved directly into the rock. As you enter the UNESCO-recognised Sassi di Matera—the best-preserved example of a troglodyte settlement in the Mediterranean—you may find yourself astounded as you comprehend the skill required to construct these time-tested dwellings. From museums full of artefacts to still-standing ancient grottos, the Sassi lets you immerse yourself in earnest, into a palpable sense of life in palaeolithic Basilicata. You will savour a delectable lunch in a welcoming local restaurant before concluding your day in Matera at a live clay-working demonstration led by a local artisan.
Perfect Pasta at Masseria Salinola
ITBRI010Nestled in the golden green Italian countryside, just outside whitewashed Ostuni is Masseria Salinola—an inviting, rustic farmhouse. Here, with the expertise of a local chef, you’ll learn how to make homemade pasta ‘the Puglian way’. After sipping a delicious welcome coffee, you will learn from your chef, who will guide you through this hour-long pasta-making demonstration. Enjoy a delicious aperitif and a glass of crisp white wine as you deepen your culinary knowledge. Then, you and your fellow guests will sit down for lunch when the demonstration ends, savouring every morsel the chef’s mouthwatering creations.

Puglian Coastal Magic: Trani and Bisceglie
ITBRI002From postcard-perfect harbour villages to countryside abundant with olive groves, the real Italy is magnificent, and this experience immerses you in it. Begin with a drive to the historic port town of Trani, admiring the glistening Adriatic Sea en route. As you embark on a waterfront walk with a local guide, you will gain insider knowledge and feel the town's timeless charm. See the Castello Svevo, also known as the Norman-Swabian Castle—a sturdy expanse of pale stone constructed in the 12th century. Find yourslf gently mesmerised by the contrast of the castle's fortitude and the softly lapping sea that abuts it. At the famous Romanesque Trani Cathedral, constructed around the same era out of local stone, cast your eye on its rosy hues and consider the minerals in this rich land that influnced the colour. Then, continue to neighbouring Bisceglie and the Frantoio Galantino olive oil estate. Here, indulge in a delightful tasting session of paired delicacies, from sumptuous olives to focaccia and fresh cheeses.
