This is something more than a simple game; it's a tradition that has its own place in every town in Provence, and evokes passion in everybody, from children to adults to seniors. Learn the difference between ‘<i>boules</i>’ and ‘<i>pétanque</i>’, get acquainted with the rules, and begin a real game together with the other tour participants. Similar to lawn bowling and Italian <i>bocce</i>, the game is played outdoors with metal balls. In essence, the goal is to throw your balls as close as you can to the object ball, known as a ‘<i>cochonnet</i>’—so that your balls land closer to it than your opponent’s balls do. It is a game of strategy, accuracy and skill. During the game, you will be offered a glass of rosé wine, in true Provençal style.
